Another Mess Hall celebrates puns, food, and the conversations that start and end when you eat together.

I love using bright, bold colors to bring images from my heart, head, and stomach, to paper. And, of course, I never shy away from a good pun (the puns usually come before the idea of what to draw).  

In addition to puns and pop culture, I am so excited to share art featuring foods that speak to all sides of me growing up as a Filipino American. Though I’ve always loved cooking and baking, at the height of the pandemic and lockdowns, being isolated from my mom (and her meals) made me realize how much I could miss Filipino cooking and how little I knew about making it myself.

From calling my mom to walk me through how to make her sinigang, to researching recipes to bring the scents of home into my apartment, learning how to make Filipino food inspired me to re-meet both my Filipino and American palates in a new light. Food is my love language, and I'm eager to continue learning dish by dish how to speak volumes.  

My name is Asia and I'm based in Martinez, Calif. When I’m not chipping away at the shop, I’m working full-time at a communications/PR agency, looking up new pie recipes, and wondering when Keanu Reeves will finally notice me.
